Well many people have been curious about how I felt when my mum bought up the idea of doing surrogacy and the best way to get things out there is to be honest. If I’m totally honest this surrogacy thought hasn’t been in my mums life for a long time well at least I don’t think it’s been?
I mean don’t get me wrong, what is a better thing to gift someone than a baby which some people physically cannot have e.g two men and 2 women or have had problems doing. The thing that some don’t understand is that some women are unable to have babies and it is very popular for women to suffer from miss carriages so to be given the opportunity for someone to fulfill your dream of having a child is just a life changing situation that many are ever so grateful for.
So in my opinion, when my mum first mentioned this I must say I was a little surprised and curious like some of you may be. As I have said it’s an amazing thing to be able to do for someone. After a week or so of thinking about what she said I actually have researched a little and WOW I would love to be able to do this for someone I may only been 13 years old but I do have an opinion and I don’t hold back and will speak my feelings. It’s incredible what our bodies can do and what we can produce. For my mum she wants to be a GS which is a gestational surrogate but there is also a TS which is a Traditional surrogate and some of you may be thinking ‘umm what is that’ well I can answer that. A Gestational surrogate is where you are inseminated with an embryo which is already formed with one of the males sperm and a women’s egg so they would have chosen the egg from a choice of egg donors. At first my mum was not interested in a GS but now she has decided if she chooses to go on with this then that is what she will do. Now a Traditional surrogate is where it is the surrogates egg and then one of the intended parents sperm obviously if both men they will choose between them and also from who has the healthiest sperm. So this way the baby would be biologically the carriers. The intended parents then can decide if they want the carrier to be close with the child but this is depending on the bond between the surrogate and the Intended parents.
That is it from me now but I will be doing another blog next week depending on people’s thoughts if this one which is my first blog. Thank you.
